Story
Citrus oil is one of life’s great wonders, hidden in plain sight. It’s an infinitely complex olfactory sparkler almost exclusively composed of a single chemical (limonene, the ultimate mood elevator). It bursts unprovoked from the peels of grocery store produce with a generosity that feels like magic. How often have you absent-mindedly scarfed down a clementine, only to find yourself sighing happily, huffing your fingertips like they’re telling you a secret? (Maybe that’s just me.)
Sorbet aims to find delight in the mundane. The formula is an indulgent VHS-tinted fruit basket of luscious unironic sunshine. One kind of elegant lemon, two kinds of tart lime, a blood orange oil that feels like cold-pressed creamsicle, and floral brushstrokes of bergamot and petitgrain (from the twigs and leaves of the orange tree). The twist - there’s always a twist - is the addition of benzoin (a film-noir dream vanilla had), paperbark oil (a romcom starring orange), and spearmint (spearmint). These give the fresh, everyday citrus juice a syrupy sap-like shimmer.
